"REAL LOVE: A HIP-HOP BRIDAL COLLECTION"

“My collection is titled "Real Love" after the Mary J. Blige song. In its essence, it's a bridal collection inspired by hip-hop. Love is the basis of most weddings, and when I think about love, I think about my family, who strongly adore hip-hop culture, fashion, and music. The collection is a marriage between traditional bridal trends such as lace and corsetry, and hip-hop fashion such as tracksuits and hoodies. A feeling of opulence is often exuded in hip-hop culture through flashy jewelry, so gold chains are incorporated into each look to pay homage to hip-hop jewelry. In juxtaposition, exuding opulence was at the very core of Elizabethan fashion, which is represented in the collection through the use of hoop skirts, panniers, and heavy embroidery. The embroidery included in the collection is derived from the titles of various hip-hop and R&B songs. Overall, the collection is designed for the person who refuses to sacrifice their love of hip-hop fashion for their wedding events.”
